Owner-Builder Course
Learn how to navigate the Owner-Builder application process and successfully project manage your building project
An owner-builder is a person who constructs or renovates a domestic dwelling on his or her own land and who is not already a registered builder.
Owner-Builders gain great satisfaction out of building their own home by having more control over the overall quality and materials used. There is also an opportunity to save money throughout the process, however being responsible for building your own home can be challenging – and involves taking on significant legal and financial responsibilities.
The Owner-Builder course is designed as an introduction to the residential construction process as well as the process of becoming an owner-builder, your duties and responsibilities under the law and explains the pro’s and con’s of building your own home.

Important:
1.) To be eligible for Owner-Builder approval, you must meet the criteria as determined by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Before attending this course, we highly recommend reviewing ‘Form 75 Owner-Builder Approval’, which can be found here. 2.) As part of your course, you will receive one ‘Certificate of Completion’ per project which can be used as part of your Owner-Builder approval application to the Building Services Board (via Building and Energy / Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety). One certificate will be issued per single or double enrolment. If you require two individual certificates for separate projects, please complete two single enrolments.
