Meet the Makers: KRE8 Constructions WA

This father-and-son team of custom home builders pride themselves on going the extra mile for their clients

With a combined three decades-plus working in construction, it was a no-brainer that Alan Mason and his sons Luke and Nick joined forces to launch their own building and renovation company.

“We offer the client a unique personal experience throughout the construction process, from the very first design to the ongoing support after completion,” Nick says.

“We pride ourselves in building strong client relationships and we will go the extra mile to ensure the building experience is enjoyable and stress-free for our client.”

“We have established strong relationships with a vital group of subcontractors, who provide us with excellent workmanship and proficiency resulting in the end result being of the highest standard.”

Luke says working with a custom builder means the client gets exceptional attention to detail.

“We want our clients to fall in love with the end result and ensure their personalities are reflected throughout their home,” he says. “A member of the Kre8 team manages the entire project and the results speak for themselves.”

Luke says he loves being involved in the process of making his clients’ dream homes come to life.

“Throughout any building process, there are many challenges we face and I personally thrive on finding the best solutions fast,” he says. “I love seeing the end result, a satisfied client makes me happy.”

Alan says he has been in the building industry from more than 20 years.

“I like to think I am fairly knowledgeable,” he says. “Some may call me old-fashioned but I am definitely a hands-on builder and seeing a project come to life is an exciting experience and one I will never get tired of.”

Marvellous Marble

“We have completely fallen in love with this home,” Luke says. “Its clean crisp-white walls, natural jarrah floors and unified downlights throughout create a perfect balance of sophistication and practicality.”

The clients’ love for natural materials has been incorporated throughout the kitchen, by revamping the existing jarrah floors and adding a marble feature to the splashback and island bench.

With its sleek minimalist look and key statement features, the kitchen is definitely the central entertaining hub of the home.

“To create the contemporary bathroom, we used floating cabinetry with a his-and-her vanity with plenty of drawer storage,” Luke says.

“The walk-in shower and freestanding bath add an element of luxury. By combining the white horizontal shutters, sleek matte black tapware and oversized grey marble tiles, we were able to create a timeless, yet modern design.”

Pure Perfection

“This renovation has definitely been one of our favourite projects,” Luke says.

“We collaborated with architect Sandy Anghie to create a modern and luxurious home. We added an upper level specially designed as an all-inclusive master bedroom with a large window that overlooks the backyard and in-ground pool.”

Jarrah hardwood floors and stairs were installed throughout and additional renovations were made to the large sliding windows surrounding the kitchen, dining and living areas.

The sliding windows between the living area and courtyard are designed to create a bright, light-filled area that seamlessly blends the outdoors with the interior of the home.

The open-plan living area and kitchen features polished concrete, white walls and a marble splashback.

Tropical Paradise

This beautifully renovated home has only three sides, drawing inspiration from a tropical Bali villa.

“The essence of this home is a total open-air, pagoda-like environment,” Luke says.

“With its central courtyard, it is a true piece of heaven on earth. The courtyard features pebbled patches with bamboo plants and wildflowers surrounded by hardwood planks. The bathroom has a large open access to the outdoor bathtub placed within a bricked-off privacy area.”

A small patio adjacent to the pool is fitted with recessed lighting.

Sliding doors off the main bedroom provide access to the ultimate outdoor seating and dining area with an exquisitely detailed vaulted timber ceiling, skylights and ornate chandeliers.

“The renovated kitchen features a central workstation with hanging ceiling lights, modern energy-efficient appliances, glass-top cooking station, and hardwood flooring,” Luke says.
