Building a new home can be a daunting process for the uninitiated – from choosing a suitable block and design that fits, to securing finance and ensuring that the process moves ahead in a timely manner.
Even though Gwelup couple Lynley and Paul had built a home before, they still wanted to ensure they were getting maximum bang for their buck.
So they called in Tristan Kirkham, of New Home Building Brokers, to help them achieve their goals.
The result is a gorgeous home which is immaculately finished, right down to the details in the manicured but easy-care gardens.
Lynley says there isn’t a thing she would change about the home and she loves its open-plan spaces and integrated alfresco living.
She says the hub of the home is the kitchen, living and rear outdoor area which is big enough to accommodate a crowd but doesn’t feel empty when only she and Paul are at home.
One of their adult children still lives at home, at least part time, and Lynley says the upper storey provides him with his own private sanctuary.
The finishes throughout are sleek and streamlined and it is clear that all involved in the job paid close attention to detail.
Stunning feature lighting and accents of red work beautifully against the mostly white interiors. Bold splashes of charcoal in the bathrooms and upstairs floor coverings add more than a touch of elegance and flair.
Lynley says she did most of the interior design and styling herself. Her choices of fittings, fixtures, paints and floor coverings came together to create a home that feels more like a boutique resort than a suburban dwelling.
At the back of the property, a row of magnolias is thriving along the fence line, providing an effective buffer for noise off a busy road.
The front garden, complete with a pretty jacaranda with a leafy canopy casting dappled light beneath, is so well established, it looks like it has been there a decade.
Lynley says working with Tristan not only saved a lot of money, which could then be redirected into other features of the build, such as the luxurious bathrooms complete with rainwater showers, but it also made the whole process much less stressful.
She says it gave her peace of mind to know they were getting the best deal possible for their money and if she was to ever build again, she would definitely work with him.
“He is such a lovely guy and he makes sure everything is running smoothly,” she says. “There is no doubt it saved us a lot of money, and who wouldn’t be happy with that.”
