Open And Shut Case

Shutters are proving to be the window covering of choice for style and function combined

West Australians have fallen in love with versatile, beautiful and functional timber shutters.

Kresta’s Shally Shwe says Kresta shutters are more than just a practical window covering. “They offer a classic, timeless look that enhances any style of home. As well as providing an excellent way to control light and airflow, they are low maintenance, allergy-free and easy to use,” she says.

“Individually designed and manufactured to suit the homeowner’s needs, shutters become an integral element of the overall look and feel of the room; adding warmth, beauty, style and value.”

Shally says Kresta’s natural timber shutters come in a range of earthly stains or classic painted white. “Alternatively choose from our range of strong MDF shutters which offer both affordability and durability. If you are looking for shutters suitable in wet areas, our Alycore Plus PVC shutters are ideal for kitchens and bathrooms, where they are impervious to damp and easy to clean.”

Shellee Baird, from Decor Blinds and Curtains, says timber shutters suit most interior styles and can provide a coverage solution for odd-shaped windows such as arches. “With options from standard paint, custom paint, stains and lime washes, there is a style for every home,” Shellee says.

“Those of us lucky enough to live in Perth enjoy being outside and many of us are very house proud.

“Shutters allow the outside in, while maintaining a beautiful finish to our windows.

“With many homes today having wide windows, two or more blinds are required but shutters can overcome that problem.

“They are easy to clean (no strings) and do not rattle when your window is open. They can also offer reasonable privacy.”
