Have you ever wondered why you can walk into someone’s kitchen and instantly feel at ease?

When we visit friends and family, we often gravitate to the kitchen and that makes perfect sense. It’s the place the host is most likely to be found, it’s the hub of activity and the source of tantalising scents. And if you’re lucky it is where you might find some pre-meal snacks and maybe even a tipple.

But why are some kitchens more alluring than others?

A well-planned kitchen probably yields a relaxed host and maybe more tasty offerings. But it also has to look the part. These days, there’s no reason why your kitchen can’t be every bit as appealing as your favourite local bar and restaurant.

Think Outside The Square

And when you are ready to add the finishing touches, it’s a great idea to make a list of anything really inspiring you have come across since your building or renovation journey began.

Then carefully assess whether you can incorporate one or two of those elements into the design.

If you love feature lighting, you can really elevate the feel of a kitchen with a beautiful selection of lights that can double as art.

If you fancy the feel of stone or marble, you can include it, no matter the budget. Even if you add a small panel of feature tiles, or some custom chopping boards – there is always a way to inject some of the things that make you happy.

And remember, if you’re trying to justify a splurge, whether that’s an incredible mixer tap or a combi oven, think of it in terms of cost per use. Over the lifetime of the kitchen, it will serve up a lot of love to you and your guests.
